about

I wrote this while living in Nepal. It is a conglomeration of memories of the seasons of my home state of Maine, people I left behind, and someone in particular that I never had the chance to love.

lyrics

Appalachia to the Himalayas
Shanna Underwood

Sebago Lake in the summer time
Come on in, the water is fine
Don't be shy, take it all off
I'll tell you a secret after it gets dark

The leaves are on fire, they're starting to fall
When they blow away, it makes me feel so small
I light the wood left in the stove, the smell of smoke
Makes me feel less alone

From Appalachia to the Himalayas
I never met anyone like you

The cold north wind makes our lashes freeze
When the ocean smells like tears, it's hard to leave
Come on now hon, it's getting cold
I can drive, down the back road slow

From Appalachia to the Himalayas
I never met anyone like you

The snow is gone, it melts away old pain
Wash away the hurt with a cool June rain
If we could just climb up that mountain
Well I hear, there's a nice view

From Appalachia to the Himalayas
I never met anyone like you

Sebago Lake in the summer time
Come on in, the water is fine

Shanna Underwood Portland, Maine

I'm not always leaving, just taking the long way home. Rich, powerful vocals accompany travel songs from the ends of the world and back.
